UAW region 1d Endorses Runberg for 7th Ward

The UAW has endorsed our campaign, and I want to tell you what that means to me.

My grandfather, Don O'Hara, put in 32 years at GM. He took the union seriously enough that parking a non-union vehicle in his driveway cost you a two-dollar toll. He wasn't kidding. It was a principle: you stand with the people who stand with you.

So this endorsement isn't a logo on a mailer to me. It's a measure I was raised on. The UAW built the wages, the weekends, and the pensions that built neighborhoods like the 7th Ward and they endorse candidates they expect to defend that work. When budgets, contracts, and projects come before the commission, I look at them the way Grandpa Frog (he was a clown at KofC Council 414) taught me: does this respect the people doing the work?

To the members who sat me down, asked hard questions, and put it to a vote — thank you! That's how it should be done. Neighbor by neighbor, on the record. Let's get to work.
